Post to examiner

My blog is a pretty simple layout, the ORANGE  labels are all mine, i also have 4 labels, labelled Planning, Production, Research, Evaluation and also Post to examiner.    Also in question 5, the last paragraph has messed up, the writing has turned white, i have tried everything to change it to black, but it won't work. There were some technical difficulties revisiting survey monkey to get my audience responses from my survey, i hope you understand.
                                                                Thank You.

Audience Response

Audience Response

At the end of the Easter term we conducted a showcase, for staff and pupils to view our films. After it finished we conducted various interviews to find out what people thought of our film. Below are the responses (unfortunately our camera broke half way through and we were unable to upload our film) below are the responses of those interviews.

Question 1.  What do you think are the the positives in our film?

Question 2. What do you think were the negatives in our film?

Rhys

The positives for the film were that we used a variety of shots including high and low angles, close-up's, medium shots etc. Also he liked our location

The negatives were that the camera could be of a better quality, but that wasn't really our fault because we given a camera at the start of the course, we were going to change to a High Definition camera but another group were using it at the time.

Teacher

The positives we got from our teacher that we used a good use of variation of shots, she thought that it was a good idea that we used ideas from the T.V series 'The Fall' e.g., paper cut outs laid upon the bed spelling out 'I LOVE YOU' with a gift of a ring.

The negatives were basically the same as our friend Rhys said, that the camera needed to be of a better quality, but as I said before that is not our fault, she also mentioned that  we could have used a better location, because she didn't think that the house was scary or eerie enough.

Evaluation Question 7

7.  Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

If i was to be honest i would say that our preliminary task was much easier to structure and plan out compared to our production of 'Intrusion'. I thought this because in the making of Intrusion, we would do it one night, which we (Me and Alex), would think is good, but then the next day when we would show our teacher, it would be wrong and we would have to go and
re-film. Which i thought was a bit stressful and we also had to give up hours of our free/spare time to complete this production but all in all i really enjoyed filming it!.

I had learned a lot of new things in the preliminary task that i did not know before, for instance how to put up the tripod, how to set the camera up on the tripod, which button to press to record/stop the film, that you had to rewind the camera to the beginning of the film before you could start recording the new footage and how to upload the footage on to 'Imovie'.

Also the time it took to complete each task was completely different, with the preliminary task it took us less than 4 hours to complete, but with the production of Intrusion it took us more than 3-4 months to complete which was a staggering amount compared to the continuity piece, which you can see on my blog.

The amount of things that went wrong in our production of 'Intrusion' were unbelievable, the first thing that went wrong was, when we had decided our roles and our film idea there were three people in our group, but then the third person in our group left Media Studies, so we had to think of a new idea and new roles considering that there was only two of us. So we went with the idea of a stalker thriller, we based our ideas on the Television series 'The Fall'. We planned to do it on one of my relatives farm, but that was another thing that went wrong. We also planned to have a woman in the actual film but also we didn't have a woman living with us, and we couldn't draft one in at such late notice. But in the film the roles were the camera man (Alex) and the main character of 'Harry'. We decided the roles pretty quickly because Alex didn't want to be the main character so i stepped up to take the lead.

Evaluation Question 6

I have learnt a lot to do with "technologies from the process of constructing of this product", during the course of making this media film i have learnt techniques to use 'Imovie' these techniques include;
  • Splitting Clips
  •  Voice overs(even though we didn't use any)
  • Adding sound effects
  • Transitions
  • Adding text; such as titles
  • Adjusting the volume/Contrast/Length of clips
I found the use of 'Imovie' easy and understandable, i don't know why i found it this easy because i haven't used the software before. The easiest thing i found to do on 'Imovie' was to do the transitions there is loads of already setup transitions that you can use for free on 'Imovie'.

The other thing that i was taught to do was to set up my own blog on this site called 'Blogger', blogger lets you write updates on your blog like on 'Facebook' or 'Twitter' where it lets you tweet and write status updates.

We also learnt how to use a camera properly with a tripod and a clip where the camera sits upon the tripod. we first got introduced to this when we done our continuity piece, when we were doing that i found quite easy to man the camera and also quite easy to be in front of the camera acting, in our film that we have just completed i was thew main character 'Harry', because i think that the other member of our group was a bit camera shy.
The tripod helped us greatly in the making of 'Intrusion', it helped to do essential pan shots and keep to keep the camera steady when we were doing regular shots.

Evaluation question 5

How did you attract/address your audience?

Our film is quite stereotypical because there is a teenage male stalking a teenage girl, the costume of the male is quite stereotypical for this type of genre (thriller) he is wearing a black coat and skinny blue jeans which is a pretty normal clothing for a 17 year old teenage male.
Also our film is targeted at people aged 15-20 years of age, typically male. this is because this type of age group are generally the people you would associate with going to the cinema, to keep up with the latest and upcoming films, they know about these new and upcoming films from social media sites such as 'Facebook' and 'Twitter' and also 'YouTube' by watching trailers online.
If we were going to bring propps theory into this film it would sound and read like this.
Propp's theory is the ability to give each character a role e.g protagonist and antagonist as there is only one character in the film 'Harry' would have to come the antagonist and the girl would become the protagonist, even thought we only see her but don't hear from her.
Our location was in Heol-Y-Cyw, at my dad's house, Heol-Y-Cyw is a rural village just outside Pencoed.  We chose this location because my partners Alex's house wasn't suitable, because it was easier to film down there mainly because i am always down there. The other reason we chose my dad's house was because it was quite a modern house, we chose a "modern" house because it's a flip on the convention of having a scary/eerie house.
In the instance of 'Dialogue', we did not use any because we thought it would have been less scary if there was speaking in it, because if there was speaking in there it would have just been me speaking to myself, because it was only me in the film because my partner Alex is a little camera shy.

Evaluation Question 4

Evaluation Question 4-
How did you attract/address your audience

Our target audience for our film is 15 and 30 year olds, we chose this because an under 12 wouldn't be suitable to see our film.

This is the typical target audience for our film;

This is Stefan, Stefan lives in Bridgend, he enjoys programmes such as Scorpion, The Flash  and Celebrity Juice, he also enjoys films such as The Fast and Furious franchise, 127 Hours and the Marvel franchise. Stefan enjoys playing football, he also likes to walk his dog along costal paths around South Wales.

The teenager standing next to Stefan his is good friend Craig. Craig also lives in Bridgend in the same neighbourhood as Stefan, he enjoys television shows such as Mastermind, University Challenge and Question Time, Craig also enjoys films such as Terminator, Alien and The League Of Extraordinary Gentleman. He also enjoys playing football with Stefan. He also likes sports such as Snooker and Darts. When he is not playing sports he also enjoys walking to keep fit and active.
