Continuity Piece

Continuity Piece

we had to film a continuity piece involving filming and editing a character opening door (me), crossing a room, pulling out a chair and sitting down in the opposite another another character(Alex), and exchanging a few lines of dialouge. This task involved the 180 degree rule, match-on-action and shot-reverse-shot.
   The continuity piece did not go to plan the first time, because we did not follow the storyboard that Miss had gave us. We thought that you could make up your own story. So we had told Miss and she had said we had done it wrong. So know we know to Always folow the story board.

180 degree rule;

This is a picture of the 180 degree rule.
The 180 degree rule is a filming guide linethat participants in a scene have the same right/left relationship to each other, with filmikng only taking place within the 180 angle, this is maintained in and/or during conversation. I used this in our continuity piece when me and alex were talking to each other on the table.

Match-On-Action;

Match-on-action(or cutting on action) is an editing technique for continuity editing in which one shot cuts to another shot portraying the action of the subject in the first shot.

Shot-Reverse-Shot;

This is a picture of the shot reverse shot rule.
Shot-reverse-shot is a continuity editing technique simply used in conversations or characters looking at differrent objects.
